Wealth, Accolades, Position…Fulfillment?

When you accept Jesus into your life He gives you a treasure chest of everything needed for successful living. The chest holds; acceptance, love, assurance, security, commitment and daily provision. The problem we may face at one time (and perhaps still do) and one that we need to warn our kids about, is that we may be tempted to look outside the spirit for FULFILLMENT.

Most of us turn to other things for fulfillment. We turn to intellect (if only I could understand better and learn more), a strong will (if only I can change what I hate and acquire righteousness), or through changing our emotions (if only I felt loved, accepted, and valued by others). He/she may look to the body for satisfaction through attractiveness. Fulfillment is sometimes believed to come through the accolades or acceptance of others: children, mates friends, family, parents, and co-workers.

If you were God, how would you get us to turn to Him for everything in your life? This is similar to my discussions on God owning it all and then us needing to discern what we would do with it, but now it deals with the entirety of our life. So how does he turn our head toward Him?

  1. HE MAKES ALL KNOWLEDGE FAIL AND EMOTIONS SINK AND LOSE THEIR ATTRACTIVENESS.

  1. HE ALLOWS THE WILL OF MAN TO FAIL HIM AS IT LOSES CONTROL IN SOME AREA OF LIFE.

  1. HE CAUSES BOTH THE WORLD AND ALL THOSE IN WHOM THE BELIEVER TRUSTS TO FAIL TO MEET HIS DEEPEST NEEDS.

Jesus does this on purpose to turn us to Him and I know from experience it is difficult.  Many believers despair and grow frantic and worried, confused, angry, bitter and cry out for a return to the happiness of the flesh which at best is fleeting.

It is through this very experience that we truly become men and women of faith! It is called the baptism of fire whereby the leaven of the past is completely stopped. (This is a reference to the means of preserving wine from becoming vinegar in biblical times. Once the wine had reached its peak fermentation, the entire container was lowered into a fire, killing any leaven that would continue the fermentation.) In this process we learn:

  • Nothing outside the spirit can ultimately destroy us.
  • Our freedom from all that used to hold us hostage.
  • How sufficient He is to supply our every need.

WHEN THE PROCESS IS COMPLETE, we enter into ultimate productivity and true humility.  We process nothing outside the spirit and nothing hinders us.

We cannot see the emptiness that we had outside the spirit. All these lesser things that we trusted in at one time have dried up. We are now on the path of the deepest work of the Lord.

THE RESULT IS LIFE IN THE SPIRIT:

WE ARE FREE

WE HAVE FOUND LIFE WITHIN

WE LIVE OUT OF THE TREASURE CHEST

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE ARE THANKFUL TO OUR PRECIOUS JESUS

DO YOU THINK THAT THIS MESSAGE IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR KIDS TO KNOW? PERHAPS WITH OUR HELP THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO STRUGGLE FOR DECADES TO LEARN WHAT TRUE JOY IN CHRIST IS!
