I am not sure I would want to offend this boss. Yet, whether we know it or not He is our boss. As I say time and time again, God owns it all by nature of his creating us and buying us back through the death of His son. Yet most of us still go on as if that means nothing.
JESUS IS AN INDESCRIBABLE GIFT, FREE TO US, COSTLY TO HIM AND EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED. DO WE LISTEN TO HIM?
If you have worked very hard to build your estate whether big or small, you obviously feel that you deserve the riches you worked so hard for. Do you deserve the riches or SHOULD WE BE THANKFUL TO GOD FOR PROVIDING THOSE RICHES TO US! LIKE IT OR NOT, HE PROVIDED YOUR SKILLS, OPPORTUNITIES, AND POSSESSIONS.
In addition to God owning it all, He is also in charge of it all. When we decide to make him our savior, we also decide to make Him our Lord (boss). He gave you the talents you have and every opportunity that helped make you and your estate what it is today; whether that is one million or hundreds of millions.
You can only have one God. When we idolize our money or anything in our lives including our marriage and children, we are missing the message of God. We are not focusing on eternity but what exists in this brief time on earth. God says not to store up treasures on earth… “No one can serve two masters,” says Jesus.
So how do we honor our boss with our money?
- DECIDE TO BE A STEWARD, that is, a manager of His money and possessions. God says in Genesis to fill the earth and govern it. Stewardship (management) comes with every area of our life: marriage, children, possessions, others. Our role is simple: manage it.
- DECIDE TO MAKE MONEY YOUR SLAVE AND NOT YOUR MASTER. Do you trust in money more that God to provide? Is money a means to an end or the end itself? Look at your life today and decide what you hoard: money, food, guns, guitars, cars, golf clubs, clothes…we all seem to hoard something. This is equivalent to Jesus’s story about building bigger barns, which He replied, “YOU FOOL!” Is it wrong to possess things or do things possess you? It may be time to beat money into submission, “Money you will do what I say!” TAKE CHARGE…BE A GOOD STEWARD.
- DECIDE NOT TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY. Matt. 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear…” Worry merely communicates that you do not trust God, a lack of faith. Psalm 37 “God cares about every fiber of your life.” In Luke 12:32 Jesus says, “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom.”
- DECIDE TO INVEST ETERNALLY. You see, at some point, everything that you have will be worthless. And if you want to make sure you are prepared for that day, you better start changing your currency now to ETERNAL CURRENCY. You better start investing in those things that will survive your death and the return of Jesus. You see, not to do that is to show that you really don’t believe what you say you believe. To say you believe and not to act is not to belief at all.
Here is the challenge: Given the brevity of life and length of eternity, start investing your time, money and opportunities and talents into building God’s Kingdom.
Why? Because one day we all are going to stand before the judgment seat of Jesus, and we all are going to be judged, rewarded or not, by what we have done in this life.
YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO INVEST DURING THIS LIFE IN THE BANK OF THIS WORLD OR THE BANK OF ETERNITY.
Jordon Sneeder of the Moody Bible Institute said,
“THE REAL ISSUE IN LIFE IS NOT WHAT WE GET BUT WHAT WE HAVE GIVEN.”
