I don’t think I am ready to leave the subject of Bitterness quite yet because it is such a poor legacy that we can leave our children. We need to be clear of our own issues in order to know how to change and share with our children. Hate has a way into each of our hearts.

What is amazing about addictions is that everyone suffers from some form of them. The same processes that are responsible for addiction to alcohol and narcotics are also responsible for addiction to ideas, work, relationships, power, moods, fantasies and all kinds of things. In Christian terms, and addiction is a false idol.
If you are a believer and have emotional stress, you will either have an outer expression or and inner explosion (which normally converts to depression) and with the passing of time all is forgiven and forgotten. However, the bitter person will do neither of these.
There is a plethora of Narcissism in this country and it is starting earlier and earlier. Narcissism is cancer to a marriage and ruins the children of that marriage.
The family tree has a root system, which is our virtues, a frame which is our values and the leaves and fruit which is the fruit of our faith. A tree will wither and die without a strong root system.
Alright, you most likely heard that in grade school and it is a part of your vocabulary. You communicate it to your kids who may or may not understand. But the real question is do you really get it?
